What makes using a fitted sheet so popular?

We haven’t always used fitted sheets also known as the bottom sheets, in fact a lot of people still don’t use fitted sheets on their beds, and they simply just use flat sheets and make the bed using classic “hospital corners” with a flat sheet.

Benefits of Using a Fitted Sheet?
  • A fitted sheet covers and protects your mattress against wear and tear if there is no mattress protector
  • They are fitted nice and snug to the mattress which therefore creates a flat, smooth sleeping surface.
  • Easily to remove when it’s time to wash.
  • Super easy to put on which makes them a time saver as well.

Fitted sheets are often made from Cotton, Polyester, Linen, Bamboo and other blends. Fitted sheets are elasticised at the four corners of the sheets for a snug fit on the mattress. At the Manchester factory generally a fitted sheet has a box depth which is also known as a “wall” depth of 40cm which accommodates to the Australian standard mattress size.

More recently we are seeing a higher demand for fitted  sheets to have an even deeper wall which we also accommodate for in a our mega size which gives the customer a depth of 50cm instead of the standard 40cm.

As of late we have noticed a significant demand in customers looking for sheets that will fit their mechanical beds these are quite commonly a long single size (91cmx204x40cm) which is obviously longer than the standard single fitted sheet sizes.

Below we have also added in the standard Australian sizing for fitted sheets to help you select your size .

So how can we help? At the Manchester factory we sell a selection of high quality fitted sheets. This range includes the highly sought after Sienna Living Bamboo Cotton collection which has the standard sizes as well as the mega sizes available.

The Sienna Bamboo Collection has a composition of cotton bamboo fibres makes the fabric more breathable and temperature regulating than other fabrics. The woven the bamboo fibres with cotton will combat the stretching that may happen to pure bamboo fabrics when wet. In doing so this will then increase durability and ensure that the sheets are long lasting. These cotton bamboo sheets are ideal for sensitive skins as they're hypoallergenic, antibacterial and resistant to odours. They will keep you cool and dry as the fabric wicks moisture away from your body. These sheets are incredibly soft to the touch, even more so than cotton.

Other brands in fitted sheets that we carry at the Manchester Factory include Sienna Living, Jenny Mclean, Linen house and Park Avenue.
